Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Independent Medical Practitioner. A Diploma in Child Health and/or Part 1 FC Pead’s (SA) could be an advantage. Must have completed Post Community Service. Registration with HPCSA for the financial year 2025/26. The incumbent s will be rotated between institutions. In line with the requirements of the College of Paediatricians of CMSA, the Registrar must complete a research study and a MMed in Paediatrics. The successful applicant will be required to complete the FC Paed (SA) examination as part of their accreditation to fulfil their acceptance as a specialist by the HPCSA.
Duties :

The incumbent will be responsible to interview, investigate, diagnose, and oversee the treatment of paediatric and neonatal patient, including but not restricted to outpatients, accident and emergency, general paediatric inpatients, neonatal resuscitation, neonatal in patients, paediatric and neonatal high care patients as well as paediatric and neonatal intensive care patients. Participate in multidisciplinary team to the management of patients. Perform practical procedures relevant to the care of patients. Improve quality of care by providing appropriate clinical care. Reduce medical litigation by exercising good clinical ethos. Implement and monitor adherence to Ideal hospital realization framework (norms and standards). Attend relevant administrative meetings like mortality meetings, near miss meetings and completing Medico-Legal Documents timeously (e.g. Death certificate). Participation in departmental meetings, journal clubs, case presentations, lectures, and ward rounds. Ensure effective administration and safe record keeping in the department. Rendering of after-hour (night, weekend, and public holiday) duties to provide continuous uninterrupted care of patients. Render clinical services, assessment and treatment of patients. Supervise junior doctors (undergraduate students, interns, community service doctors and Medical Officers).

These positions will be joint appointments between the Gauteng Department of Health and the following academic institutions: University of Witwatersrand /University of Pretoria and/ Sefako Makgatho University
