Requirements :

• An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner. HPCSA registration as an Independent Medical Practitioner and must have completed Community Service. Current registration with HPCSA for 2025/2026. Must have Diploma/Part 1 in relevant department. Attendance of relevant courses and working experience in the relevant department will be an added advantage.

Duties :

• Interview, investigate, diagnose, and oversee the treatment of patient related administrative duties, Participate in all activities of the discipline in relation to teaching and research, Participate in departmental audit activities, Preparing and writing of reports, Communication and community liaison. Supervise junior doctors (undergraduate students, interns and community service doctors). The incumbent must be willing to work longer hours Willing to work after hours (night, weekend and public holiday) to provide continuous uninterrupted care of patients. Attend relevant administrative meetings like mortality meetings, near miss meeting and completing MEDICO Legal Documents timeously (e.g. Death certificate). Improve quality of care by providing appropriate clinical services. Reduce medical litigation by exercising good clinical ethos. Implement and monitor adherence to National Core Standards (norms and standards). Participate in multidisciplinary team/s to the management of patients. Perform practical procedures relevant to the care of patients. Participate in departmental meetings, journal clubs, case presentations, lectures and ward rounds. Ensure effective administration and safe record keeping in the department. Registrars will be rotated through related departments at various hospitals, comprising hospitals served in their specific outreach programmes.
