Grade 12 plus an appropriate 4-year Degree (NQF Level 8) in Agriculture as recognized by SAQA. Registration with the SACNASP or relevant professional body. 0 - 2 years’ experience in Agricultural Extension is required. Must have a valid driver’s license(code B). COMPETENCIES: Knowledge and experience in agricultural extension. An understanding of Agricultural development, coordination and facilitation with other developmental stakeholders. Must have good computer skills, writing and reporting skills, project management, presentation, planning, organizing, facilitation, conflict management and communication skills. Knowledge of extension methodology
Duties :
-
To provide scientific, technical and practical information to the farmers in order to maximise their ability to produce in different commodities with focus on animal or crop production. The extension practitioner will work with beneficiary groups (farmers), facilitating their development as a group or individuals, assisting them to develop their capacity and become self-sufficient through agricultural production. Contribute to the implementation of extension and advisory services programme. Provision of training to farmers (accredited and non-accredited). Participate in the development of farmers through CASP and Ilima/Letsema
Programmes. Facilitation and coordination with other stakeholders (internal and external). Provide continuous support to ensure sustainable production and improvement; Establish and enhance the relationship with clients and (internal and external) stakeholders. Perform administrative related functions, keep up to date with the applicable prescripts, policies, procedures, technologies and new developments to be able to render an efficient and effective extension service.
