Requirements :

  • NQF Level 6 National Diploma, BTech or Bachelor’s degree Qualification as recognised by SAQA in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil) or Facility Management with at least 10 years’ relevant experience in Infrastructure Maintenance field of which a minimum of 3-5 years should be at least at Assistant Director level. A valid driver’s licence. An experience in the hospital environment will be an added advantage. Knowledge and Skills: A sound knowledge and experience in the maintenance of building infrastructure standards and guidelines. Knowledge and understanding of OHS Act, Building Regulations and Building Standards Act. Computer Literacy (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project and MS Outlook). Project Management skills. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Communication; Financial Management; Strategic capability and leadership; people management and empowerment; Project/Programme management; Client orientation and customer focus. Negotiate and Change management skills. Communication and listening skills.

Duties :

  • Ensuring the functionality, safety, and upkeep of buildings and equipment through routine inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance. Tasks include repairing plumbing, electrical systems, plant rooms, boilers, HVAC, and structural elements (drywall, doors), as well as cleaning, landscaping, and maintain tools, all while adhering to safety regulations. Preventative Maintenance: Conducting regular inspections to prevent breakdowns of machinery and building systems. Repair Work: Fixing plumbing (leaks, toilets, drains), electrical faults (outlets, lights), HVAC systems (filters), boilers, CCTV and carpentry (doors, cabinets). Facility Upkeep: Painting, drywall repair and cleaning. Grounds Maintenance: Landscaping, mowing lawns, removing snow, and clearing debris. Troubleshooting: Identifying technical issues with machinery, generators and equipment. Safety Adherence: Checking safety systems like some alarms and fire extinguishers, lifts and escalators generators, and ensuring compliance with occupational safety standards. Administrative Tasks: Updating work orders, managing inventory of supplies, and documenting repairs.
