A Grade 12 Certificate, an appropriate Degree (NQF level 7) in health-related field. A postgraduate qualification in Management will be an added advantage. Registration with professional body. A minimum of five (5) years management experience at senior management level in public health. Understanding of Pharmaceutical services business partnering. Proven, experience and thorough understanding of the pharmaceutical services value chain in the Health Sector. Good understanding of legislations, related regulations and policies in the public sector. A valid Driver’s Licence (with exception for persons with disabilities). Computer literacy. Core Competencies: Strategic capability and leadership, Programme and project management, Financial Management, Change management, People management and empowerment. Process Competencies: Service delivery innovation, Problem solving and analysis, Communication, Client orientation and customer focus.
Duties :
-
Plan, direct, co-ordinate and manage the efficient and effective delivery of pharmaceutical and administrative support services through working with the key Executive Management team and Chief Executive Officers of hospitals. Develop and implement strategic plans. Ensure and oversee the development and implementation of Policies and standard operating procedures. Ensure proper stock management with timely procurement and distribution of supplies. Develop and implement a tool for monitoring and utilization of medicines. Timeously respond to queries from relevant structures, suppliers and managers regarding the provision of medicines. Plan, co-ordinate, advise and monitor all the drug acquisition and utilization. Manage and co-ordinate the procurement, storage, distribution of medicines. Provide full-time technical and management support to the districts and institutions. Establish, maintain and ensure a good working relationship within the department and relevant stakeholders. Manage human and financial resources in accordance with relevant directives and legislation.

(in compliance with the DPSA Directive on the implementation of competency-based assessments). The competency assessment will be testing generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS competency assessment tool. Personnel Suitability Checks (criminal checks, citizenship checks, qualification verification, company directorship, social media, financial record checks, reference checks) will be conducted prior appointment. Candidates in possession of a foreign qualification must furnish the Department with an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Applicants with foreign qualifications remain responsible for ensuring that their qualifications are evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Preference will be given to South African citizens. The performance of normal and commuted overtime, where applicable is not mandatory, however it will be based on the operational needs of the hospitals.
