Requirements :

• An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in General Surgery. Current Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in General Surgery is mandatory. A minimum of three (3) years appropriate work experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Surgical Care-related discipline, Diploma in Vascular Surgery. National academic standing in an appropriate discipline, significant research experience, strong organizational skills, and experience in Vascular Surgery. Excellent team player. Strong record of clinical expertise, clinical governance, research, teaching and training at under and postgraduate levels. Excellent managerial, interpersonal, leadership, administrative, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to supervise clinical training and teaching. Knowledge in Vascular Surgery including provision of direct clinical care, supervision and mentoring of subordinates, management of teams.

Duties :

• Provide leadership within the Department of Surgery Vascular Surgery Unit at DGMAH. Organize academic, research and service functions regarding Vascular Surgery. Routine data collection to establish a data repository for research and clinical audit, teaching on Vascular Surgery to undergraduate and postgraduate students, consistent research output in Vascular Surgery research. The incumbent will be required to participate in after-hours commuted overtime duties.
