Appropriate qualification that allows registration with HPCSA as specialist and as a Fellow of the College of Physicians with the CMSA; an MMed or equivalent or higher academic qualification and research experience are desirable attributes.
Duties :

Successful applicants will be expected to undertake clinical, academic, and research activities in the Division of Nephrology and Department of Internal Medicine at HJH, including but not limited to: oversight of the in- and out-patient management of general medicine cases in the form of post-intake and inpatient follow-up rounds, attendance at weekly medical outpatient clinics, and after-hours telephonic cover and intake rounds for medical admissions; oversight of the in- and out-patient management of nephrology cases in the form of admission rounds, inpatient follow-up rounds, haemodialysis unit rounds, attendance at general renal, peritoneal dialysis, and transplant clinics, performance of nephrology-related procedures including closed biopsy, CVC and peritoneal catheter insertions, and after-hours cover and rounds for admitted patients; provision of bedside and clinical tutorials to registrars and undergraduate students; candidates will in addition be expected to publish a research paper in Nephrology during their training period and to assist in other research projects underway in the Division. Candidates will in addition be expected to provide outreach services to Leratong Hospital on a rotational basis, and to rotate to other Nephrology training platforms affiliated with the University of the Witwatersrand. Candidates will be expected to sit the Cert Neph(SA)Phys examination in their final year of training.
