MBChB & MMed degree or a relevant postgraduate qualification in Diagnostic Radiology and Imaging • Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa • A minimum of three (3) years’ appropriate experience as Medical Specialist after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist • Must have abundance of proven management experience within an academic environment, and proven expertise, experience in undergraduate and postgraduate, teaching, training and supervision in Diagnostic Radiology and Imaging • Must have been an examiner in undergraduate and postgraduate examinations • Participated in convening and conducting such examinations • Independent Research experience with publications, peer-reviewed journals. A PhD will be an added advantages • Research output of at least 3 original publications in peer reviewed scientific journals, one of which should be as first author • Supervision of postgraduate students (at least 3 M Med. will be a recommendation) • 3 conference presentations, three of which should be oral presentations • The candidate should have good leadership skills, excellent communication skills and good conflict management skills. The candidate must have good resource management skills, problem-solving, decision-making skills, service delivery innovation, empowerment skills and advanced clinical and teaching experience. To be appointed at a minimum Adjunct Professorship level. Good verbal and written communication skills and National standing amongst peers. Code EB or above driver’s license.
Duties :
-
Efficiently and effectively coordinate, manage and administer radiology services at the institution. Foster appropriate sub-specialty development within the department of the teaching hospital and university complex. Ensure that clinical teaching and supervision of medical staff are of adequate standards. Conduct quality teaching to undergraduates and postgraduate students. Set norms and standards for the maintenance of service delivery and quality outputs in the department. Ensure that plans and strategies within the hospital are implemented. Manage and provide leadership in the delivery of clinical services to patients. Perform clinical duties in Diagnostic Radiology. Ensure that the National Core Standards are adhered to. Lead the department of Radiology at DGMAH, in line with the strategic goals set by National and Provincial Departments of Health. Participate in all applicable management and clinical interdisciplinary meetings. Actively participate in the university’s academic management activities, including membership of committees in the School of Medicine at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University. Lead and participate in national and international efforts to advance aspects of Radiology, both in research and advocacy. Examine and provide examiners for the degree and diploma programmes, and fellowship in Radiology in South Africa. Ensure that appropriate ethical and quality research is performed in the department with publications in peer-reviewed academic journals. Provide clinical support and outreach to referring hospitals in the DGMAH cluster. Contribute to Radiology planning, budgeting, and procurement processes as well as monitoring and evaluation. Fully comply with Human Resources and Financial Management policies. Be a team player and also required to work longer hours.
