Requirements :

  • MBBCh appropriate qualification that allows registration with HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner and proof of current registration. At least 6 months experience in psychiatry clinical services as an independent medical practitioner. Be able to register as a candidate for MMed Psychiatry at the University of Pretoria (UP) and FC Psych SA (Colleges of Medicine – SA) (CMSA). Recommendations: To have a Diploma in Mental Health and FC Psych Part 1.

Duties :

  • The post is a 4-year joint-appointment as a registrar in psychiatry at the Dept. of Psychiatry at the University of Pretoria (UP) and Weskoppies Hospital. The successful candidate must provide clinical services to mental health care users at Weskoppies Hospital and academic clinical training platforms where applicable, participate in the department’s academic programmes, research activities and clinical administrative work. The candidate will further be expected to rotate through all the training units as per the HPCSA, CMSA, and the University of Pretoria’s MMed Psychiatry requirements, within the 4-year period.
