Requirements :

  • Qualification in Audiology or Speech Therapy and Audiology. Registration as an Independent Practitioner with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. Must have completed community service. Current annual registration with HPCSA. Current health and public service legislation, regulations and policies. Knowledge in the application of clinical audiology theory, practices and ethics. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in rendering tertiary level/central level audiology services such as vestibular, electrophysiology, implantable hearing devices and the provision of aural rehabilitation to adults and/or children with hearing aids and implantable hearing devices. Communication skills, report writing, presentation skills, research skills, planning and organizational skills.

Duties :

  • To provide a effective and comprehensive Audiology services to in and out patients in adherence with the scope of practice and protocols. The caseload will consist of both paediatrics and adult patients. Provide education and counselling to patients, family and caregivers. Selecting, issuing and training appropriate use assistive devices. Monitoring and reviewing patient progress. Documenting patient information, statistics, attending ward rounds, discussions and meetings within a multidisciplinary team. Liaising and referring appropriately. Contributing to service development by monitoring, evaluating and coordinating existing and new services. Identifying departmental needs, managing waiting lists, participating in implementing new services and developing management protocols for improved patient care. Providing public education regarding hearing and balance disorders. Assist with management of human(including students), finance and physical resources. Adherence to legislation, regulations, ethical standards, policies, guidelines and protocols at national, provincial, institutional and departmental level.
