Requirements :

  • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner. Current HPCSA registration. Minimum of 3 years’ experience as Medical Officer after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner. Diploma or Degree in Health Management or General Management will be an advantage as well as Health Management experience. OTHER SKILLS: Strategic capability and leadership. Change management. Planning and organising. Strategy, Policy Development. Project management, financial management. Client orientation and focus, people oriented. Knowledge of GPG and Health policies and procedures. Understanding of patients’ expectations and full knowledge of Ideal Hospital Framework for health establishments. Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Must have a valid driver’s license. Knowledge of Administration, Finance, and Supply Chain Management prescripts. Strong communication, customer management, leadership, interpersonal skills, and strategic management. Problem solving, good analytical and decision-making skills. The prospective incumbent should have knowledge of good administration procedures relating to specific working environments including Health norms and standards. Sound knowledge and ability to implement policies and public service prescripts such as National Health Act, PFMA, PSA and its regulations, Mental Health Act, and other relevant statutes. Must be able to work under pressure, cope with high workload and be willing to manage the hospital after hours. Knowledge of GPG as well as Health policies and procedures. Must have experience in Monitoring and Evaluation in Health programmes.

Duties :

  • Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the incumbent will act as a manager of clinical departments. Function as a Senior Clinical Manager in a Regional hospital with an ambitious and innovative team. Provide strategic clinical management for improved patient outcomes. Participate in developing and implementing operational plans (including cost-containment strategies). Plan, manage, monitor, and evaluate activities of Medical Services Directorate. Plan, manage and control resources allocated to the Directorate. Participate actively in administrative duties of the institution. Assist the Hospital’s Executive Committee (EXCO) in the discharge of any responsibilities which have been delegated. Support the CEO in ensuring the realisation of a functional decentralised management. Ensure adherence to clinical governance. Ensure the coordination of all activities necessary for quality and efficient 24-hour patient care. Assist in clinical care audits and risk management strategies to improve clinical governance and outcomes. Management, investigation and reporting of patient safety incidents and adverse events. NTSG monitoring and reporting. Chair or be an active member of various clinical governance and management committees. To be responsible for HR, Finance, and administrative matters as it relates to the clinical departments. See to it that Quality Assurance, including clinical audits are conducted in the institution’s Ideal Hospital Framework. Coaching and mentoring different levels and categories of staff. Ensure adherence to relevant health and public legislation including Public Charter and Batho Pele principles. Ensure compliance to the Ideal Hospital Realization and Maintenance Framework and Department of Health’s Six Key Priorities. Representing the hospital as required in cluster and provincial forums. Ensure compliance with AGSA audits and OHSC audits. Serve as part of the hospital’s senior management team. Actively contribute to the formulation and implementation of the hospital’s operational plans. Management of personnel performance and review thereof. Perform any other work-related duties delegated by the supervisor.
