Requirements :

  • Matric/ or equivalent, Formal tertiary qualification in Social Work. A bachelor’s degree in social work (4 years). Registration with South African Council for Social Service Profession (SACSSP). Current registration with the Council. Registration certificate from the SACSSP. Drivers’ licence will serve as an added advantage.

Duties :

  • Render quality Social Work services and care to patients, families, groups and community by utilizing social work theory, techniques, and models. Conduct psychosocial assessment to patients and families regarding the implication of illness. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention. Ensure that everyday records of social work interventions, processes and outcomes are produced and maintained as well as compile accurate statistics. Must be able to work within teams including social work teams and the multidisciplinary teams. Must be able to plan and organize own work. Participate in the Performance Management and Development System. Must be able to meet due dates and participate and assist with the conducting of regular audits of social work staff records. The applicant should be willing to rotate within the different Units, including psychiatry. Participate in the Continuous Professional Development activities. Attend to any other Social Work matters delegated to.
