Requirements :

Degree/ Diploma in General Nursing or equivalent qualification that allows
registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife. A minimum of 7 years appropriate/ recognizable experience in Nursing after registration as a professional nurse with SANC in General Nursing. Current Registration with SANC as Professional Nurse and Midwife. A qualification in Infection Prevention and Control will be an advantage.
Duties :

Ensure IPC is incorporated into all service planning, performance management, project management, and other related processes. Establish key IPC risk indicators which are monitored, reviewed, and reported as part of the Quality and Patient Safety Committee agenda. Ensure IPC is included as a core item on all management team briefings/meetings. Ensure that, where necessary, Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI), prevention and control risks are reported on the Risk Register. Report performance against agreed IPC objectives, ensuring that any investigation or enquiries into HCAIs or other IPC issues (including root cause analyses) are completed. promptly, thoroughly and to agreed time scales. Facilitate and oversee the development of an IPC operational plan to give strategic direction. Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate the Operational Plan and provide feedback to Management. Ensure a functional infection prevention and control Programme in the facility. Conduct IPC audits, monthly committee meeting and ensues a functional IPC committee. Develop a quality improvement plan, compile statistics and reports. Facilitate IPC surveillance of health care associated infections. Conduct active and passive surveillance. Investigate potential outbreaks and report on health care associated infections. Ensure that staff development and training take place. Develop an IPC orientation and induction plan. Compile training schedules. Observe disease outbreaks and conduct the necessary training. Analyze provincial imperatives with a view to develop and maintain institutional protocol. Ensure that provincial guidelines are followed. Ensure dissemination and adherence to institutional IPC protocols.
