Requirements :

  • Basic qualification accredited with the SANC in terms of Government Notice 425 or equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse plus a post basic diploma in Child Nursing Science with a duration of at least 1 year. A minimum of 9 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. At least 5 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification in the relevant speciality. The candidate must be conversant with relevant guidelines in the health sector for a mother and child facility including the HIV Guidelines and the data required for maternal and neonatal health. The operational manager must provide nursing care as part of the multidisciplinary team and actively participate in decision making, actively participate in morbidity and mortality meetings relevant to the department and act in the best interest of quality patient care in a mother and child facility. Must be computer literate. Good Management, Communication, and Leadership skills. Nursing Administration and Education are added advantages. Must be able to maintain respect of patients, staff, and relatives.

Duties :

  • Coordination of optimal, holistic specialised nursing care provided within set standards of a professional/ legal framework. Effectively manage the utilisation and supervision of human, financial and material resources. Co-ordination of the provision of effective training and research. Provision of effective support to nursing services. Maintain professional growth, ethical standards, and self-development.
