Requirements :

  • An appropriate qualification that allows for registration with HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner. Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner and current registration. Further experience after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner, and a relevant post-graduate qualification, will be an added advantage.

Duties :

  • The Public Health Medicine registrar programme runs over a four-year period. Training includes work at institutes within, and affiliated to, the Gauteng Department of Health, as part of experiential learning; the opportunity to perform overtime work in another discipline or area within the Gauteng Department of Health; and further training with the Department of Community Medicine, School of Public Health, University of the Witwatersrand, to facilitate completion of a Masters in Medicine (MMEd) in Public Health Medicine and other requirements directed by the College of Medicine of South Africa, to become a Fellow (Specialist) in the College of Public Health Medicine. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in the Department ‘s academic program and in any related research activities.
