Requirements :

  • Grade 12 and two (02) years Staff Nurse Certificate that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council, Valid proof of Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Staff Nurse. A valid code 8/10 driver’s license. No criminal record or any cases pending against you. Knowledge and Skills: Departmental policies and procedures, relevant public service regulations, Gauteng safety strategy, information management system, Knowledge of nursing care processes and procedures, nursing statutes, and other relevant legal frameworks such as: Nursing Act, Health Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Patient Rights Charter, Batho-Pele principles, Public Service Regulations, Labour Relations Act, Disciplinary Code and Procedure, Grievance Procedure, etc. Basic communication skills, Basic writing skills, Ability to function as part of a team, Basic interpersonal skills Elementary facilitation skills.

Duties :

  • Development and implementation of basic patient care plans and complete progress reports. Promote quality of basic care as directed by the professional scope of practice and standards for staff nurse. Perform elementary clinical nursing practice in accordance with the scope of practice. Display concern for patients, promoting and advocating basic care including patient health education, awareness, and willingness to respond to patient’s needs as per Patient’s Rights Charter. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure effective and good nursing care. Effective utilisation of resources, appropriate care and use of equipment and consumables. Administer prescribed primary treatment, maintain fluid balance of the patient. Monitor patient’s vital signs, wound care and dressing. Maintain stock register and updated inventory lists. Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development. Provide nursing care, administrative advice, support, liaison, and information sharing. General support, networking, liaison, customer care, improved service delivery, and negotiations.
