Grade 1: appropriate qualification that allow for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Nuclear Medicine. No experience required after registration after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Nuclear Medicine. The following will be an added advantage: Sound clinical knowledge and skills in Nuclear Medicine. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team. Knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures pertaining to Radiopharmaceuticals theranostics. Computer literacy. A valid driver's license. This post will allow the opportunity to work in general Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT and Radiopharmaceutical therapy. Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years appropriate experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Nuclear Medicine. Grade 3.A minimum of 10 years appropriate experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Nuclear Medicine.
Duties :

Offer comprehensive provision of Nuclear Medicine care by diagnosing and treating diseases using radioactive materials and techniques. The Nuclear Medicine physician will monitor radionuclide preparation, administration and disposition. Prepare comprehensive interpretive reports of findings. Check and approve the quality of diagnostic images before patients are discharged. Establish and enforce radiation protection standards for patients and staff. Interpret imaging data and confer with other Medical Specialists to formulate diagnoses. Prescribe radionuclides and dosages to be administered to individual patients. Review procedure requests and patients medical histories to determine applicability of procedures and radioisotopes to be used. Direct Nuclear Medicine technologists or technicians regarding desired dosages, techniques, positions and projections.
