Requirements :

Degree in Speech Therapy or Speech Therapy and audiology with an interest in paediatric special populations and compliance to HPCSA CPD requirements. Applicants must have completed one year Community service and be registered as an independent practitioner. Applicants should have good communication, interpersonal and conflict management skills. they should be able to work independently and within a team when required. Applicants should be able to flexible and work under pressure.
Competencies: Knowledge and skills in Early Communication Intervention. Knowledge and skills in individual therapy, family-focused intervention and facilitation of support groups. Preference will be given to candidates with additional certificate of post-graduate training in Auditory Verbal Therapy and to those who have experience in providing aural (re)habitation to children with hearing aids and cochlear implants. Ability work in a team, plan, organise and coordinate a clinical service. Ability to engage in solution-based problem solving. Display empathy for patients, promote advocacy and facilitate holistic treatment. Applicant should be prepared to undergo medical surveillance as an inherent job requirement.
Duties :

Provision and monitoring of speech therapy services in line with the department, provincial and national strategic and operational plans, including quality assurance principles within a multicultural multi- linguistic environment. Assist with supervision of staff and students. Lead and adapt to change with effective communication and collaboration between MDT work teams. Contribute to collaboration and analysis of data for service development, management of stock and resources, attend meetings, and assist in managerial tasks when required.

Candidates in possession of a foreign qualification will be required to furnish the Department with an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). HR will conduct Personnel Suitability Checks (PSC) and Verification Checks. The Department reserve the right to conduct verification beyond information provided, where necessary. Failure to submit all the relevant information mentioned above with the exception of HR verification checks, will result in the candidate being disqualify.
