Requirements :

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent qualification accredited by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) that allows registration with the SAPC. Registration as a pharmacist with South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) and current proof of annual fee payment. A minimum of four years’ experience after registration as a pharmacist. Knowledge of supply chain management, financial management, HR management and legislations relating to the provision of pharmaceutical services. A valid driver’s license. Must be able to work under pressure. Ability to interact with key stakeholders within and outside the Department. Leadership, communication and problem-solving skills. Public service experience will be an added advantage with an experience in the management of a pharmacy. Flexibility in being allocated to manage any community health centre in Johannesburg Health District.

Duties :

  • Manage procurement of medicines in accordance with the Public Finance Management Act, National Treasury regulations and Provincial Policies. Provide an oversight of inventory management in compliance with relevant legislation and policies. Effectively promote rational drug. Manage and monitor medicine budget. Ensure compliance of the pharmacy with relevant legislation and adherence to Good Pharmacy Practice. Support the facility with the implementation of the Dablapmeds program, medicine monitoring using Stock Visibility System and compliance with Ideal Clinic prescripts. Initiate and participate in the provision of health care education and information to the public and health professionals. Register as the responsible pharmacist of a CHC and provide a quality cost effective service. Manage and supervise pharmacist, pharmacist assistants and other support staff. Evaluate and manage staff performance and development. Comply with the Performance Management and Development System (contracting, mid-year reviews and final assessment). Perform all duties within the scope of practice of a responsible pharmacist.
