Requirements :

  • Basic R 425 qualification, i.e., Diploma/Degree in nursing that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council as Professional Nurse with Midwifery. Proof of current registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse with Midwifery. Experience of working in a mother and child facility or operating theatre. They must work within the legal and ethical framework that governs the nursing professional and public service employees. The professional nurse must provide nursing care as part of the multidisciplinary team and actively participate in decision making within the scope of there practice, in the best interest of quality patient care in a mother and child hospital. They must be prepared to work shifts according to the needs of the department, both day and night shift excluding public holidays and Sundays. Overtime is not included in the package. GRADE 1: Less than 10 years relevant experience after registration as professional nurse. GRADE 2: At least 10 years, but less than 20 years relevant experience after registration as professional nurse. GRADE 3: 20 years and more relevant experience after registration as professional nurse.

Duties :

  • Provision of optimal, holistic specialised nursing care with set standards and within a professional/ legal framework. Effective utilisation of Human and Material resources. Participation in training and research. Provision of support to Nursing Services. Maintain professional growth, ethical standards, and self-development. Promotion of a scientific, high quality nursing care that is cost effective and efficient.
