Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Officer. Grade 2: Appropriate qualification that allows for registration with the HPCSA as Medical Officer. Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Officer. A minimum of 5 years’ appropriate experience as Medical Officer after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner. Grade 3: Appropriate qualification that allows for registration with the HPCSA as Medical Officer. Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Officer. A minimum of 10 years’ appropriate experience as Medical Officer after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner. IMPORTANT. Previous experience in Family Medicine, Psychiatry, Emergency medicine, Anaesthesiology and HIV-medicine as well as valid certificates in ACLS/PALS/ATLS or other similar certificates will be to your advantage. Any additional qualification like Diploma in Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine and HIV Medicine will be an added advantage. Also note that this is a medical officer post in a District Hospital under Family Medicine. And that you can be placed in any area where the need arises.
Duties :

The incumbent will be responsible to interview, investigate, diagnose, and treatment of patients and related administrative duties in your placement. Supervising junior doctors (undergraduate students, interns, and community service doctors). Willing to do commuted overtime. Rendering of after-hour (night, weekend, and public holiday) duties to provide continuous uninterrupted care of patients Attendance of relevant administrative meetings like mortality meetings, near miss meetings and completing MEDICO Legal Documents timeously (e.g., Death certificate). Implement and monitor adherence to National Core Standards (norms and standards). Participate in multidisciplinary team to the management of patients. Performance of practical procedures relevant to the care of patients. Medical officers can be rotated through related departments depending on the need of the hospital.
