Requirements :

• An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Orthopaedics, that is MBChB, FC Ortho (SA), MMed in Orthopaedics. Registration certificate with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist, current proof of registration (2026/2027). Ability to work with fellow Specialists and multi-disciplinary team. Knowledge and skills: Knowledge of Public service legislations, policies and procedures. Be able to lead the team. Experience as a Medical Specialist will serve as an added advantage.

Duties :

• The incumbent will be responsible to manage patient flow and optimize Orthopaedics, wards, operating theatre and outpatient clinics for safe and efficient care. Oversee clinical outcomes and ensure safe , evidence based care. Strengthen medico-legal risk reduction, patient safety measures and National Core Standards compliance within the Orthopaedic department. Provision of Orthopaedic quality, cost effective clinical services at Tambo Memorial Hospital. Organizing Orthopaedic services in the hospital and the district to achieve quality services that are effective and efficient. Patient management and supervision of junior Medical staff. Ensure a proper record keeping as legally and ethically required. Participation in the Orthopaedics academic program. Reporting to the Hospital Management on service delivery, clinical audits and where necessary quality improvement plans. Maintain discipline in the department and promote a professional work culture. Conduct performance appraisals, skills assessments and staff development.

Candidates in possession of a foreign qualification will be required to furnish the Department with an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). HR will conduct Personnel Suitability Checks (PSC) and Verification Checks. The Department reserve the right to conduct verification beyond information provided, where necessary. Failure to submit all the relevant information mentioned above with the exception of HR verification checks, will result in the candidate being disqualify.
