Requirements :

  • Grade 12 plus basic qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or an equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife. Current registration with SANC as a Professional nurse. The candidate should have good communication skills, both verbal and written and be able to work in a team. Willing to rotate, work in shifts, weekends, public holidays including night duty. Knowledge ad practice of nursing values.

Duties :

  • Demonstrate a depth of understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices and how this impact on service delivery. Promote and provide quality nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice. Demonstrate effective communication with patients, supervisors and other clinicians including report writing when required. Have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the ideal hospital realization and maintenance, Batho-Pele principles, ministerial priorities and patient rights. Work as part of the multidisciplinary team to ensure good nursing care. Work effectively, co-operatively and amicably with people of diverse intellectual, cultural, racial or religious differences. Be able to plan and organize own work and support other personnel to ensure quality nursing care. Display caring attitude towards patients, promote and advocate for proper management and treatment of patients. Promote awareness and willingness to respond to patient's needs, requirements and expectations. Ensure continuous development of self, supervision and education of students on training. Identity risk factors and maintain a therapeutic environment for patients, visitors and staff in the wards. Demonstrate effective utilization of physical, financial and human resources to fulfil departmental goals. Be supportive to the manager and contribute to team building to achieve the goals of the unit and that of the Hospital.
