Requirements :

  • Senior certificate/ Grade 12.A basic R425 (i.e. Degree/Diploma in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Professional nurse. Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional nurse. A minimum experience of 7 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional nurse with SANC in general nursing. Computer literacy with a proficiency in MS office software applications. A qualification in Management of Health Services will be added advantage. Financial Management. Leadership, decision making and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of public service policies and other health related prescripts. Good interpersonal skills, knowledge of Human Resource management and Labour relations act. Other Skills: HAST programme management/administration, planning organizing, coordination and communication skills. Knowledge of administrative policies and guidelines. Effective communication at all levels of service delivery. In depth understanding of legislation and ethical practices relating to public service, public health, nursing and other disciplinary health professions. A qualification in Health Service Management will be an added advantage.

Duties :

  • Ensure the provision of comprehensive effective clinical governance through quality improvement processes implementation. Monitor and evaluate the performance of HAST unit in line with public health indicators. Analyse health policies and programs with the view to develop customised implementation strategies to guide the health care service providers towards complying with stated norms and standards. Ensure the provision of comprehensive HAST services including HIV counselling and testing (HTS), initiation and management of ART (NIMART), Management of TB and sexually transmitted infections. Implement PMTCT programs and PrEP Services. Ensure maintenance of accurate patients records and HAST statistics. Provide contextual planning, monitoring and evaluation. Facilitate and advocate for the required resources for service delivery including staff development. Ensure cost effective and appropriate use of resources. Ensure appropriate implementation of Batho Pele Principles. Manage and support education, in service training, and practice development initiatives in the facility, professional growth, ethical standards and participation in training research. Oversee disciplinary and grievance matters including monitoring and managing absenteeism. Implement consequence management for non-compliance.
