Requirements :

• A BChD/ BDS degree and currently registered with the HPCSA as a dentist in the category: Independent Practice. A minimum of two years’ experience as a general dental practitioner after completing community service. Completion of three primary subjects (Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology). A post graduate qualification in Dentistry preferably Orthodontics, research experience and publications will be added advantage.

Duties :

• The candidate will be expected to carry out all responsibilities and requirements necessary for the completion of the MChD degree in Orthodontics. The duties include teaching and supervision of undergraduate students, treatment of patients using removable and /or fixed orthodontic appliances, completion of a mini dissertation and other activities that may be assigned by the Head of the Department.

All shortlisted candidates for SMS posts will be subjected to a technical exercise that intends to test relevant technical elements of the job, the logistics of which will be communicated by the department. Following the interview and technical exercise, the selection panel will recommend candidates to attend a generic competency assessment (in compliance with the DPSA Directive on the implementation of competency-based assessments). The competency assessment will be testing generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS competency assessment tool. Personnel Suitability Checks (criminal checks, citizenship checks, qualification verification, company directorship, social media, financial record checks, reference checks) will be conducted prior appointment. Candidates in possession of a foreign qualification must furnish the Department with an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Applicants with foreign qualifications remain responsible for ensuring that their qualifications are evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Preference will be given to South African citizens. The performance of normal and commuted overtime, where applicable is not mandatory, however it will be based on the operational needs of the hospitals.
