Requirements :

  • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a medical officer and proof of current registration.A minimum of 3 (three) years post internship experience after registration with HPCSA as a Medical officer. Diploma of HIV management of South Africa. Have an in depth knowledge of HIV and its complications and treatment for effective clinical care. Competency in excellent clinical skills, leadership skills and collaboration.

Duties :

  • Implement comprehensive HAST care programmes at the clinic to manage patients with HIV/AIDS. Facilitate a holistic approach to patient care within the multidisciplinary team(including VMMC). Facilitate optimal running of the clinic. Assist in updating protocols and SOP’s as required by the clinic and ensure that they are being followed. Facilitate the in-service training of junior medical officers, nurses and supplementary health professions. Attendance of academic meetings and keeping abreast with developments in the field. Liaise with local community clinics to assist them with telephonic consults and when needed facilitate transfer of the patients. Arrange referral for patients requiring services not offered by Helen Joseph Hospital such as radiation oncology or oncology. Familiarise self with rules and regulations with the Health At and other relevant legislation.
