Requirements :

  • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a specialist Diagnostic Radiologist. FCRad (Diag) SA; Current registration with HPCSA. Good communication skills.

Duties :

  • The incumbent will be responsible to interview, investigate, diagnose and oversee the treatment of patient related administrative duties, participating in all activities of the discipline in relation to teaching and research, participating in departmental audit activates, preparing and writing of reports, liaison and communication services and community liaison. Check reasonable throughput of patients on the lists of the day. Competency in plain film, fluoroscopy, sonar, CT, MRI and Mammography. Experience in Intervention will be of value. Supervising junior doctors (registrars, undergraduate students, interns and community service doctors). Commuted overtime is mandatory. Attendance of relevant administrative meeting like multi-disciplinary team meetings, near miss meeting and completing MEDICO Legal Documents timeously (e.g. Death certificate) is required. Improve quality of care by providing appropriate clinical care. Reduce medical litigation by exercising good clinical ethos. Implement and monitor adherence to National Core Standards (norms and standards). Performance of practical procedures relevant to the care of patients. Participation in departmental meetings, journal clubs, case presentations and lectures. Ensure that administration and record keeping is done in the department. Rendering of after-hour (night, weekend and public holiday) duties to provide continuous uninterrupted care of patients. Rotation to both Helen Joseph Hospital and Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital is required. The post is a joint appointment with the University, requiring registrar and undergraduate teaching and research supervision.
