Requirements :

  • Grade 12 Senior certificate or equivalent plus An appropriate qualification as a Medical Specialist in Ophthalmology,FC Ophth (SA) , which allows registration with HPCSA. Proof of HPCSA registration for the current year (card or receipt). Good leadership skills, excellent communication (verbal and written) skills, conflict resolution and good interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and under pressure and beyond normal working hours and work with a diverse team. Clinical skill set to manage high volume patient numbers, good surgical skills and must have clinical experience managing a clinic, as determined by the needs of the department of Ophthalmology at Pholosong Hospital.

Duties :

  • Provide a quality cost effective and efficient 24-hours Ophthalmology services in keeping with Batho-Pele Principles and ensure that performance targets for cataract surgeries at Pholosong Hospital are met. Assist with the training and guidance of Medical Interns, Medical Officers, Optometrists and other staff categories. Maintain accurate and appropriate health records in accordance with the above. Development of skills in the department with regards to research and instruction and promote CME (continuous medical education through tutorials, M&M etc.
